Course Objectives: 1.Explain the difference between the terms genetics and genomics. 2. Define inheritance patterns. 3. Describe the relationship between genes and proteins. 4. Identify chromosomal abnormalities and DNA mutations. 5. Participate in drawing a family pedigree. 6. Identify reasons why someone would have genetic testing performed. 7. State two reasons why it is important for the nurse to understand the influence of genetics and genomics on patients' responses to treatment.
