Description

This one day course will provide patient care updates related to research findings on various endocrine disorders such as genetic organization of endocrine disorders, pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma, Type B insulin resistance, lipodystrophy, insulinoma, blood glucose management, nutrition management of diabetes, and pharmacotherapy related to diabetes.

Course Objectives

-Review patient care practices for patients with complex endocrine issues such as lipodystrophy,Type B insulin resistance, pheochromocytoma, and insulinoma -Discuss patient education related to diabetes - Identify treatment options for patients with insulinoma

Pre-requisites

Attendance of the CCND Clinical Endocrinology Course or read Chapter One: Principles of Endocrinology in Williams Textbook of Endocrinology, 12th Edition. (2012) by S. Melmed, K. Polonsky and P. Reed, and Larsen and Henry Kronenberg. Philadelphia: Saunders. This book is accessible on line via the NIH CC Library On Line Books
