Description
This training is based on the Pediatric ELNEC (End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium) curriculum, a program developed by national experts in pediatric pain and palliative care from the City of Hope and the AACN (American Association of Colleges of Nursing). This course will cover the following topics: communication, cultural/spiritual considerations, pain, symptom management, care at the time of death, grief/loss/bereavement, and ethical/legal considerations when caring for pediatric palliative care or end-of-life patients. Contact Hours
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. In order to receive full contact-hour credit for this continuing nursing education activity, the participants must: 1. Attend 90% of the live sessions on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. 2. Complete and submit the online course evaluation which will be emailed to all participants at the conclusion of the activity, by Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 5PM.

Target Audience
Healthcare providers (Clinical Research Nurses, Research Nurse Coordinators, Social Workers, Teachers) working with pediatric patients and their families.
Course Objectives
As a result of participating in this educational activity, participants will describe the nursing care, cultural considerations, loss/grief/bereavement, and effective communication styles necessary when caring for pediatric patients on palliative care or at end-of-life.
