Competency assessment and validation of psychiatric high-risk yet low volume skills is a priority for ensuring safe and effective nursing care in a specialized clinical research setting. Fortunately, many of these skills are for psychiatric emergency situations and are not utilized on a regular basis. For this reason, a focused, interactive, experiential approach -dynamic and informative- is best utilized to reinforce the significance and sphere of our specialty as psychiatric clinical research nurses. 2019 Annual Core Competency •Clinical Emergency Response •Skin and Wound Care (pending) 2019 Behavioral Health Program of Care Competencies •Behavioral Health Positional Restraint, Children’s Holding, Control and Transport •Behavioral Health Positional Restraint, Team Holding, Control and Transport •Mechanical Restraint, Behavioral Health, Locked Leather or Papoose •Suicide-Self Harm Prevention Additional Skills/Education: Suicide Assessment Skill Building for the Psychiatric Nurse and Technician
