Description

The CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention* annual class with new enhanced content will build on the skills that organize your thinking about how behavior escalates and how to respond appropriately during moments of chaos. This foundation course provides the mental health nurses and technicians with the same core program you've always known, now with additional content and new decision making and physical intervention options to expand staff capabilities.

Target Audience

This course is designed for all mental health nurses and technicians.

Course Objectives

1. Identify behavior that indicates an escalation toward aggressive and violent behavior and take appropriate measures to avoid, decelerate, and/or de-escalate crisis situations. 2. Assess the level of risk associated with crisis behavior and make appropriate decisions related to the management of such risks. 3. Use suitable and acceptable disengagement and/or Holding Skills to reduce or manage risk behavior. 4. Identify the impact of crisis events and describe post-crisis responses that can be used for personal and organizational support and learning.

Pre-requisites

CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention* 2 Day Initial Class.
