Description
This 1 day program will focus on the new emerging science in the areas of post-traumatic stress disorders; child and adolescent depression; neuroimaging; substance use disorders; and schizophrenia.
Contact Hours
This educational activity has been approved by the Maryland Nurses Association for 5.5 contact hours for those who attend this full day program, complete the course evaluation and post-test.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the “2017 Topics in Behavioral Health Biomedical Research-Current Trends in Mental Health,” the learner will:
-Discuss the current trends in biomedical research related to mental health and the future implications for
psychiatric clinical care.
-Improve practice based decisions using validated research findings.
-Review practice based documents for opportunities to improve to quality of care and anticipation of need for the psychiatric patient based on best evidence.
-Translate findings of mental health biomedical research into everyday practice and develop realistic prevention and treatment strategies.
