Class Information for 2021 Renewal Course for Chemotherapy Biotherapy for Non-Oncology Settings
Description
This on-line renewal course provides a review of: fundamentals of administration and nursing management of the non-oncology patient receiving cytotoxic and biologic agents; reviews new agents and conditions cared for by nurses in MSS and NBHP; provides review for documentation and updates to policies related to chemotherapy/biotherapy administration. This course is designed to meet the CCND Policy for 2 year renewal course.

This course is approved for 5.3 contact hours by the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA). This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.The presenters have no conflict of interest. Target Audience
Nurses who have completed the initial 2 day Chemotherapy Biotherapy for Non-oncology Settings in 2019 or Renewal a renewal course in 2019.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of the course, the participant will be able to: 1. Describe nonmalignant indications for chemotherapy and biotherapy agents 2. Identify steps in the administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy agents: pretreatment, during treatment, and post-treatment 3. Discuss the assessment and management of side effects of therapy 4. Describe safe handling of hazardous drugs 5. State pertinent patient education related to chemotherapy and biotherapy 6. discuss updates in agents, conditions and policies in past 2 years
Pre-requisites
Initial 2 day course completion in 2019 or Renewal Course in 2019.
