This training session is part of the 2018 Clinical Center Hand Hygiene Campaign aimed at increasing our staff compliance rate and ultimately protecting our patients.

NOTE: This training is only 15 minutes long. NO LATE ENTRY IS ALLOWED. DIRECTIONS: Director’s Conference Room 6-3551 is located by the Central Elevators on the 6th floor of the CRC. Social Work Conference Room 2-5551 is located on the 2nd floor near the Central Elevators in the CRC. Conference Room 5-1608 is located on the 5th floor of the CRC outside of 5NW. Take the north elevators to the 5th floor. Admissions Conference Room (1-5650) is located on the 1st floor of the CRC in the corridor to the left of the Admissions Desk. FAES classrooms are located on B1. Take the hallway to the left of the new FAES gift shop on the 1st floor and take the stairs down one floor to B1. Conference Room 5-2341 – From the 1st floor in the Hatfield Center, take the Central elevators to the 5th floor. Proceed down the 5SE 4000 corridor towards the east labs. At the end of the corridor, turn left (north) go through the double doors towards 5NE. Pass through the glass hallway and continue north through another set of double doors. 5-2341 will be on the right

Course Objectives

After this session, the participant will be able to: 1. verbalize why hand hygiene is important 2. define two opportunities for performing hand hygiene 3. verbalize how to collect hand hygiene observations 4. discuss how to intervene with staff who are non-compliant in performing hand hygiene 5. verbalize how to use STARS to document hand hygiene observations
