Class Information for OCN Review Course
Description
Oncology nursing certification is the validation of nurses advanced knowledge and experience in the specialty. Certification enhances credibility and provides assurance that the nurse has met all of the eligibility criteria and achieved the standards of the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation to provide expert oncology nursing care. This two day comprehensive review course will help the experienced oncology nurse identify their own knowledge gaps in order to develop a study plan to prepare for the OCN® Certification Exam.
Contact Hours
*This activity has been submitted to the Oncology Nursing Society for approval to award contact hours. ONS is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s COA.
Contact hours will be awarded to those individuals who attend at least 80% of the event and complete the on-line evaluation. Any nurse providing documentation of registration for the OCN exam will receive a copy of the ONS "Core Curriculum for Oncology Nurses" to support his/her study plan.
Target Audience
Experienced Oncology Nurses employed by the Clinical Center Nursing Department who are preparing for the OCN exam.
Course Objectives
Nurses will be able to identify strengths and areas for improvement related to their knowledge of Oncology Nursing as it relates to the OCN test blueprint.
Nurses will gain insight into areas where they will focus their study in preparing for the OCN certification exam.
Pre-requisites
A minimum of 12 months of nursing experience within the last 3 years and at least 1000 hours of oncology practice within the last 2.5 years.
